The controversial JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 just lost a horror icon. It was only a little over a week ago that we heard Adrienne Barbeau (THE FOG (pictured above), CREEPSHOW, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, SWAMP THING) had joined the cast of the sequel to play a character named Gaylen Brandon, whose son Kenny was one of the Creeper's past victims,
leaving in this shattered woman a burning vendetta. When her long dead son starts to appear to her with warnings about the creature who killed him – Gaylen plots to use the information to end the creature once and for all.
As it turns out, Barbeau won't be playing Gaylen Brandon. In fact, she won't be in JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 at all. The actress took to her Facebook account last night to share the news while praising the script.
Gina Phillips is reprising the role of JEEPERS CREEPERS heroine Trish Jenner in part 3, with Jonathan Breck back to play the Creeper again. They are joined in the cast by Brandon Smith, Brandon Stacy, Stan Shaw, Chester Rushing, Ryan Moore, Patrick Thomas Cragin, Gabrielle Haugh, Justin Hall, Michael Papajohn, Megan Elizabeth Wright, Jason Bayle, Cade Burk, Joyce Giraud, Jordan Salloum, Don Yesso, David Davis, Casey Hendershot, Thomas Francis Murphy, and Carrie Lazar.
JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 is already filming in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, so the production must be scrambling to find a different actress to play Gaylen Brandon. It will be interesting to see who gets cast in the role, because Barbeau is a tough act to follow.
Like JEEPERS CREEPERS and JEEPERS CREEPERS 2, the third film is written and directed by Victor Salva, who was imprisoned for molesting the young star of his movie CLOWNHOUSE in the late '80s. Salva's criminal past has prompted a boycott.
