In CREED II Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) will go up against his toughest opponent yet – his past – when he has the opportunity to face the son of the man who killed his father. Ivan Drago's son (Florian Munteanu) is perhaps faster and stronger than him, but that’s not stopping Adonis from putting everything on the line to prove himself a boxing champ. The first trailer finds the fighter training hard and fast for the fight (including shadow boxing underwater) but perhaps with a bit too much rage for his own good.
Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family's past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what's worth fighting for, and discover that nothing's more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can't escape your history.
This is a solid trailer with some great music backing it, but I'm certainly itching for glimpses at more stuff beyond Creed's training scenes, like more in-ring boxing, moments with Stallone and Jordan, and more. Still, it looks great and the path they're taking Creed down is an interesting one, as he confronts both his past and future legacy. This is one of my most anticipated of the fall season, so any footage is good footage, really.
CREED II with Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Sylvester Stallone, Florian Munteanu, Phylicia Rashad and Dolph Lundgren arrives November 21.
