Adam Sandler is looking rough in Uncut Gems trailer teaser

More known for his comedy and the occasional funny voice, Adam Sandler has taken on some hefty dramatic roles in the past, but in UNCUT GEMS he seems to be taking things to another level. Critics have been raving about the movie out of TIFF, and now A24 is giving the rest of us a preview of what’s to come with a teaser for the movie, featuring Sandler looking a little worse for wear. Was it the tissues up the nose that gave it away?

The teaser advertises the full trailer that’s set to drop on Tuesday, and while it shows off virtually nothing when it comes to the movie, it’s enough to show that Sandler took on quite the role here as Howard Ratner, a shady jeweler with a gambling problem. The movie received raves out of TIFF with many praising Sandler’s performance as his best, and one seriously worthy of some Oscar consideration. Check out the teaser below:

Our own Chris Bumbray gave the movie a glowing 9/10 review, and here’s how he summed up the star’s work:

“It’s a tough part for anyone to pull off, but Sandler nails it by going all-in on making his Howard Ratner utterly repulsive in some ways, but oddly charismatic in others. We can’t help but root for him even as he flushes himself further and further down the drain, by dodging loan sharks and doubling down on self-destructive bets any time he gets the least bit ahead.”

Directed by Josh and Benny Safdie, the movie co-stars Idina Menzel, Lakeith Stanfield, Judd Hirsch, Pom Klementieff and more, and the movie hits theaters on December 13.
