There was a time when I would go out to the theatre to see every Adam Sandler movie that was released, but over the years I drifted away from his work. Now his movies are made for Netflix, and there are some I haven't even gotten around to clicking on. For example, the image above comes from THE DO-OVER, and not even a shot of Sandler with a gun has been enough to get me to watch it yet. There is one, SANDY WEXLER, I regret sitting through (it wasn't my choice), as it was one of the most unpleasant viewing experiences I've ever had.
Sandler's next project has my attention, though. It's going to be filming in July, but the setting is Halloween.
Directed by Steven Brill, who has worked with Sandler several times before, including the 2000 "son of the devil" film LITTLE NICKY, this one is called HUBIE HALLOWEEN. Sandler will be playing
good-natured but eccentric community volunteer Hubie Dubois, who finds himself at the center of a real murder case on Halloween night.
Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and it’s up to Hubie to save Halloween.
I don't have high hopes for HUBIE HALLOWEEN, but the set-up of having Sandler run around Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night will be enough to get me to watch it when it hits the Netflix streaming service.
