Adam McKay says fan support may give us an Anchorman sequel

The Anchorman sequel has died and come back to life so many times, I’m almost getting sick of hearing about it at this point, but here’s one more swing back toward “life,” in case you’re really clamoring for another go-round of Ron Burgundy and co.

“[Fan outcry] made a difference. Paramount heard it. Adam Goodman, the President of Paramount, was on the first one so he loves it and when that outcry came, he was kind of excited because he knew it could maybe push it towards happening. That having been said, I’m clearly going into it like another movie so if it does happen it’s still two years away or a ways away. And I haven’t talked to anyone. There’s nothing happening right now but it helped, it helped.”

That’s right, YOU are responsible for the fact the studio is even considering an ANCHORMAN sequel again. I’m not sure where or when or why this outcry took place, but I guess some studio exec must read our Strikes Back section, as most of you seem to be in support of a sequel.

I never did understand why both ANCHORMAN and ZOOLANDER never got sequels, both seemed ripe for them, and it could have been at the very least a lot of easy money for the studio. But the longer they wait, interest will keep fading, and in two years I think the “outcry” will be even more faint in ANCHORMAN’s case.
