Bond 25, accident, Daniel Craig

Alright, it's time to come clean, people! Which one of you has placed a hex on BOND 25? I say this because the long-gestating film has arrived at yet another setback, following a significant accident on set that left one crew member with a "minor injury" and the project's Pinewood Studio stage damaged.

According to a statement from the official BOND 25 Twitter account, a controlled explosion went awry, resulting in damage to the stage where filming on director Cary Joji Fukunaga's super spy sequel is currently taking place. You can view the tweet for yourself below:

Following up on the incident, The Sun newspaper states that a member of the crew was testing a stunt involving a fireball in a laboratory when the accident occurred. According to the outlet, "A fireball was supposed to go through the set. That was the stunt but something has gone horribly wrong. There were three loud explosions, one after another, and a member of the crew was lying on the floor outside the building injured. It went bang, bang, bang. The place is now on total lockdown."

Furthermore, The Sun says that their source told them, "It was utter chaos. There were three huge explosions and it’s blown part of the Bond stage roof off and some wall panels off the stage. They were supposed to be filming."

The unfortunate explosion comes just weeks after Bond actor, Daniel Craig, twisted his ankle ligaments, taking him out of the loop for a total of two week's worth of filming. Before that, the production had lost its initial director in Danny Boyle, who'd been replaced by Fukunaga after the TRAINSPOTTING helmer claimed that he'd continued to experience issues with the project's script.

In April, it was announced that Rami MalekAna de Armas, Lashana Lynch, Billy MagnussenDavid Dencik and Dali Benssalah would be joining the feature as key cast members. As for the film itself, it's been reported that the plot revolves around Bond having left active service to enjoy a tranquil life in Jamaica. However, his peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Updates are still pouring out of today's unfortunate events, though nothing official has been stated with regard to the accident delaying the film's production yet again. For now, we're just happy to hear that the crew member's injuries were minor, and that the stage can of course be repaired.

For the time being, BOND 25 is still scheduled to put a hit out on North American theaters on April 8, 2020.
