ABC takes residence in “666 Park Avenue” with new supernatural series

Horror on network TV? Never really works, does it?!?

But that doesn’t dissuade ABC, which has just acquired an hour-long supernatural series called “666 Park Avenue” from Alloy Entertainment, producers of “Vampire Diaries” and “The Secret Circle.” Oh, and Ammon’s favorite, “Gossip Girl.” So you know it’s gonna be good!

Based on the skein of Gabriella Pierce books (to be adapted by David Wilcox):

“666 Park Avenue” centers on an innocent couple from the mid-west that moves to New York and gets hired to be resident managers of a building on the Upper East Side. There, unbeknownst to the couple, the residents have all unwittingly made deals with the Devil to have their deepest needs, ambitions and desires fulfilled.

Sounds like THE SENTINEL to me, but what the hell do I know. Throw in any AMITYVILLE flick, and you’ve essentially got your bases covered. ABC looks to be going pretty hard to the paint with “The River,” so who knows, maybe they’re trying to corner the big four with the only quality TV horror projects suitable for their wares. Will “666 Park Avenue” rival anything on HBO, Showtime, F/X or AMC? Doubtful, but I suppose it’s a possibility.

Where do you come down on the matter?
