ABC special Celebrating Stan Lee to air this month

When Stan Lee passed away on November 12, 2018 at the age of ninety-five, he left behind an incalculable legacy. Lee began his career with Timely Comics in 1939 at the tender age of seventeen. From there he went on to Marvel Comics where he created or co-created some of the most recognizable names in comic lore including The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man. Without Lee there literally would be no Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stan Lee inspired millions and his influence is legion.

In honor of Stan Lee's groundbreaking work and contribution to pop culture, ABC is planning to air a television special later this month to celebrate the man's life and times. The show will feature brand new interviews from stars of the Marvel television shows and films as well as rarely seen footage and archival interviews of Stan the Man. In addition, such notable names as Mark Hamill, Tom Hiddleston, Deborah Ann Woll, Clark Gregg, Bob Iger, Kevin Smith (natch), and Kevin Feige will all make appearances.

Of the man and the special, Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Marvel Entertainment Joe Quesada had this to say:

“As a young man, Stan ‘The Man’ Lee always dreamed of writing, going on to create some of the greatest heroes of our modern times. Stan showed each of us how to be a hero in our everyday lives, and the stories he wrote will go on to influence generations of fans for decades to come. We can’t wait for all you True Believers out there to see this special to honor and celebrate Stan’s incredible life and all the lives he has touched.”

The special will air December 20 at 8pm EST.
