Emma Roberts and John Gallagher Jr. star in the upcoming horror thriller Abandoned, which is set to receive a theatrical release on June 17th, with the film’s digital and VOD release to follow on June 24th. With those release dates rapidly approaching, JoBlo’s own Eric Walkuski was able to sit down with Roberts and Gallagher for a few minutes to discuss Abandoned, and you can watch the interview in the embed above.
During this conversation, Roberts and Gallagher discuss what drew them to the project, how it was to work with each other, and the fact that Roberts has become a genre regular. Her previous genre credits include Scream 4, American Horror Story, Scream Queens, Paradise Hills, The Hunt, and The Blackcoat’s Daughter.
Spencer Squire made his feature directorial debut with Abandoned, working from a screenplay by Deep Blue Sea 2 writers Erik Patterson and Jessica Scott. The film follows
the sharply intense lives of Sara, her husband Alex, and their infant son as they move into a remote farmhouse, which harbors a dark, tragic history. As their home’s past is revealed, the mother’s fragility escalates to a state of psychosis that jeopardizes her own safety and that of her newborn son.
Roberts plays Sara, with John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane) as Alex. Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water), Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation), Kate Arrington (Night’s End), Addy Miller (The Walking Dead), Paul Dillon (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery), Justin Matthew Smith (The Righteous Gemstones), and newcomer Paxton Pope are also in the cast.
Abandoned sports a running time of 102 minutes and has been rated PG-13 for terror, some violent content, thematic material, and brief strong language.
