2013 has been a very strong year for Netflix. Besides bringing back Arrested Development, the company has received a lot of attention for their original series like House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Hemlock Grove. Netflix just announced their latest original program: a dark animated series called BoJack Horseman, with the voice talents of Will Arnett, Aaron Paul and Amy Sedaris.
So who the hell is BoJack Horseman?
Legendary star of the 1990s family favorite sitcom "Horsin' Around," BoJack (Will Arnett) has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whisky and failed relationships. Now, in the presence of his human sidekick Todd (Aaron Paul) and his feline agent and ex-paramour Princess Caroline (Amy Sedaris), BoJack is primed for his comeback and the over 40 million global members of Netflix will be able to chart his progress in excruciatingly real time when all twelve episodes of season one hit the service in mid 2014.
The picture above is of BoJack Horseman, and the animation looks like it will be very similar to the shows you'd normally find on Adult Swim. To me it sounds like a cross between Fox's Greg the Bunny and USA's Duckman. Adult animated series are very hit-or-miss, and I'm not completely sold on the concept for BoJack Horseman, but I'm definitely interested in checking it out, especially with these three talented people involved.
BoJack Horseman will be available on Netflix mid 2014.
