A24 has released a trailer for THE WITCH director Robert Eggers' upcoming film THE LIGHTHOUSE, and this movie looks incredible to me. I'm speaking of the actual look of the movie when I say that, the cinematography by Jarin Blaschke. THE LIGHTHOUSE was shot in a 1.19 : 1 aspect ratio, on black and white 35mm film, using equipment from the 1920s and '40s, effectively making the movie look like it came out of another era of cinema – which is quite fitting for a story that's set in 1890.
While the visuals are stunning, the movie is made to look all the more appealing with moments of madness and glimpses of what seem to be great performances from stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson.
Very little has been revealed about THE LIGHTHOUSE, all we know is that it's a thriller about a pair of
lighthouse keepers in Maine.
The film was produced by Rodrigo Teixeira, Jan Van Hoy, Youree Henley, and Lourenço Sant’ Anna.
THE LIGHTHOUSE is set to reach theatres in New York and Los Angeles on October 18th, and will roll out to other areas after that.
