Last week we shared a creepy NSFW teaser for Jonathan Glazer's adaptation of Michael Faber's UNDER THE SKIN, which stars ultra-hottie Scarlett Johansson as a voracious alien seductress who scours remote highways and backroads for human prey, and today we have word out of TIFF that the films U.S. rights have been picked up by upstart distributor A24.
The Hollywood Reporter is sharing that A24, the distributor behind SPRING BREAKERS, THE SPECTACULAR NOW and THE BLING RING, has nabbed the U.S. rights to UNDER THE SKIN which made its Toronto debut late last night.
In the film, which wrapped in London last year, Johansson plays…
Isserley, an alien on earth, disguised as the perfect aesthetic form of a mesmerizing woman. She scours remote highways and desolate scenery looking to use her greatest weapon to snare human prey — her voracious sexuality. She is deadly efficient, but over time becomes drawn to and changed by the complexity of life on earth. With this new found humanity and weakening alien resolve, she finds herself on a collision course with her own kind.
We'll keep you posted on news regarding UNDER THE SKIN, as well as other surprises out of TIFF 2013, as we hear it.
