A young Bruce Wayne to be featured in Fox’s Gotham TV show?

Gotham, an origin series focusing on detective James Gordon, is gearing up to start production next year and TV Show Auditions is reporting that a 10-year-old Bruce Wayne may be a series regular for the show. Taking place in Gotham City, home of Batman, the series is said to follow the early exploits of Jim Gordon as a homicide detective and his first major case is likely to be the investigation of Thomas and Martha Wayne, the parents of Bruce, who as we all know becomes Batman, the protector of Gotham City.

Here's the lowdown:

"A 10-year-old Bruce Wayne is among the roles that are rumored to now being cast as series regulars on the upcoming Fox TV series "Gotham" which explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham City famous. Under development for over a year, the project has now been given a direct-to-series order by the network, which won an intense bidding war for the Warner Bros. Television rights to the show. Shooting on the pilot episode will get underway in March, 2014 and will center on Gotham City PD rookie homicide detective James Gordon who investigates the double murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne."

Bruno Heller, producer of The Mentalist and HBO's Rome, will serve as executive producer, head writer, and showrunner for the series, which seems to be following the DC model of origin TV shows. It worked wonders for Smallville and is tearing it up for Arrow, so it seemed like only a matter of time before THE DARK KNIGHT got in on the action.  Personally, I think this sounds really cool, especially seeing some of Gotham's renowned villains in live action. Gotham could easily be another hit for DC's comic book TV show market. No casting announcements have been made, but expect to hear something soon as the pilot is set to shoot in March 2014.

What do you think? Does this sound like another hit for DC or a potential dud?
