I somehow missed the first trailer for ANTLERS, but the film is sure as hell on my radar now that Fox Searchlight has released a new atmospheric trailer. Directed by Scott Cooper (HOSTILES), the upcoming horror film centers around a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, as they discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) has been harboring a dangerous secret with frightening, and clearly deadly, consequences.
Scripted by Scott Cooper, Nick Antosca & C. Henry Chaisson, ANTLERS is based upon Antosca's short-story "The Quiet Boy" and also boasts Guillermo del Toro (THE SHAPE OF WATER) among its producers. I love trailers like this, just dripping with tension and entirely dialogue-free, with the exception of the final moment in which the young boy utters, "daddy." Count me in.
ANTLERS will hit theaters on April 17, 2020.
