Drama and scandal make for excellent binge-watching fodder which could explain why Hulu is claiming some bragging rights for their FX on Hulu series, A Teacher. The show, which is based on Hannah Fidell's feature film, is the most-watched FX on Hulu original series ever.
The feat allows A Teacher to surpass the period drama Mrs. America and the sci-fi thriller Devs. As is the case with most streaming services, Hulu did not reveal actual viewing figures or numbers of significance so I guess we will have to take their word for it. What is known is that A Teacher attracted more new subscribers to the digital service than Mrs. America or Devs and the ten-part limited series ranked as the number one show on Hulu for five of the eight weeks of its run.
A Teacher starred Kate Mara and Nick Robinson and it explored the complexities and consequences of a predatory relationship between Claire Wilson (Mara), a young teacher at a suburban Texas high school, and her student, Eric Walker (Robinson). The series was quite compelling and was pretty easy to binge as the consequences of their relationship gained more tension with each episode. Despite the success of the limited series, Mara recently said that there are no plans for a second season of the show.
