IFC was recently hanging out at the SXSW Film Festival, and in doing so had the opportunity to check in with the comedy troupe Broken Lizard about the state of a sequel to their hilarious 2001 movie SUPER TROOPERS. Actor and director Jay Chandrasekhar was nice enough to illuminate the current situation of the oft-rumored movie.
“We’re hoping to make ‘Super Troopers 2′ eventually,” he said. “We’ve written the script and as soon as we figure out a little sort of legal thing with Fox, I think we’ll hopefully get a chance to make that.” Fellow actor and Broken Lizard member Kevin Heffernan then added “it’s ready to go.”
Chandrasekhar went on to joke that not making a new SUPER TROOPERS movie is actually the best marketing ploy that Broken Lizard could have. “It’s great because every time we make another movie, people will hopefully be like, ‘Okay, could be another ‘Super Troopers,’ we better get involved!’”
