A Quiet Place sequel sneaks ahead two months for a March 2020 release

Whispers around the old bullpen say that Paramount Pictures is planning to release the untitled sequel to John Krasinski's 2018 surprise smash, A QUIET PLACE, two months ahead of schedule from May 15 to March 20, 2020.

When the stealthy supernatural horror franchise returns, Krasinski will once again direct Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe who are reprising their roles from the original. Joining them for the frightening follow-up will be new cast member Cillian Murphy as “a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family unit.” What this character means for the Abbott family is anyone's guess, though perhaps he's interested in what they've learned about combating the sound-sensitive creatures of the film?

When A QUIET PLACE creeped into theaters, the pulse-pounding thriller grossed $340 million at the worldwide box office, marking Krasinski as a tremendous talent, both behind and in front of the camera. In fact, so successful was A QUIET PLACE that Blunt was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award for the event's Best Supporting Actress category. Moreover, Krasinski, Bryan Woods and Scott Beck were also nominated for a Writers Guild award thanks to their powerfully-emotional and original script.

For those of you who’ve yet to see the original film, Krasinski’s bone-chilling thrill ride takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, and follows a family who is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing. The film features a minimal amount of dialogue, an element that adds tremendously to the film’s tension and terror factor.

Paramount and director John Krasinski's A QUIET PLACE sequel will now open in theaters on March 20, 2020.
