As much as I enjoyed John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place, I certainly never expected it to become a franchise. After a lengthy delay due to COVID, A Quiet Place 2 hit finally hit theaters last year and we’ve also got a spin-off on the way as well, but it seems that we’ll also be returning to the story of the Abbott family with A Quiet Place 3.
John Krasinski announced A Quiet Place 3 during a Paramount investors day presentation but didn’t offer many other details other than it’s looking to hit theaters in 2025. No writer or director for A Quiet Place 3 was announced, but it’s hoped that Krasinski will return. Emily Blunt said last year said that the latest film was designed to be the second part of a trilogy.
I always said when we were approaching this one. I said, ‘I think you need to think of this not as a sequel, but this is chapter two. This is just a continuation.’ I think there was such an investment in this family, such mileage for expansion on this kind of extraordinary world, that this is the continuation. As this family have to venture out, the story ventures out, the world gets bigger. But I think I always felt he was still going to write something muscular and intimate and intense. I think there’s room.
The next Quiet Place film will be a spin-off that was originally set to be helmed by Jeff Nichols. After Nichols dropped out, he was replaced by Michael Sarnoski, who is hot off the success of Nicholas Cage’s Pig. The Quiet Place spin-off is based on an idea by John Krasinski and was originally slated to hit theater next March but was pushed back to September 22, 2023 just last month.
