We don't know the full plot details on director Jason Reitman's upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS sequel GHOSTBUSTERS 2020, but it's quite clear that children are going to play a major role in the film. Reitman has even said that his idea for the movie started with the image of a 12-year-old girl wearing a proton pack. Presumably that image is going to be brought to the screen with actress Mckenna Grace being "The Girl with the Proton Pack".
The names of two more GHOSTBUSTERS 2020 cast members have been announced, and it seems like Reitman has cast a couple friends or acquaintances of that young girl. Celeste O'Connor and Logan Kim have signed on to appear in the film, and if you're not familiar with those names it's because these two are both young child actors just getting their careers started.
Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon are the leads, playing
a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.
Paul Rudd will be playing a teacher.
Unlike the 2016 GHOSTBUSTERS reboot, this film will be in continuity with the original GHOSTBUSTERS and GHOSTBUSTERS II (which were directed by Reitman's father Ivan Reitman). Original Ghostbusters Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson are believed to be involved in some capacity, Sigourney Weaver has basically been confirmed to be returning as Dana Barrett, and Annie Potts thinks she's coming back as Ghostbusters receptionist Janine as well.
Jason Reitman wrote GHOSTBUSTERS 2020 with Gil Kenan. The film is scheduled to reach theatres on July 10, 2020.
