A while back, we released an episode of our video series WTF Happened to This Horror Movie? that looked at the making of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Obviously whatever happened behind the scenes on that movie resulted in a film that’s considered to be one of the best horror movies ever made -a rebound from the sequel that nearly killed the franchise, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (watch it HERE). Freddy’s Revenge is the movie we’re looking at in the new episode of WTF Happened to This Horror Movie?, which is embedded above.
Directed by Jack Sholder from a screenplay by David Chaskin, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge has the following synopsis:
Jesse Walsh moves with his family into the home of the lone survivor from a series of attacks by dream-stalking monster Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund). There, Jesse is bedeviled by nightmares and inexplicably violent impulses. It turns out Freddy needs a host body to carry out his gruesome vendetta against the youth of Springwood, Ohio. While Freddy gains influence, Jesse and his girlfriend, Lisa, race against the clock trying to figure out what’s going on.
The film stars Mark Patton, Kim Myers, Robert Rusler, Clu Gulager, Hope Lange, Christie Clark, Marshall Bell, and Sydney Walsh, with Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger.
This is what the WTF Happened to This Horror Movie series is all about:
Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster, but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?
The A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge episode of WTF Happened to This Horror Movie was Written by Bryan Wolford, Edited by Joseph Wilson, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
