After last week's confusion regarding the shortened episode count for Derek Mears' SWAMP THING, DC Universe has been hard at work while pumping out promotional materials for their upcoming superhero series. In fact, shortly after the production shutdown kerfuffle, DC unveiled a brief teaser giving fans their first look at Alec Holland, aka Swamp Thing, rising from the depths of a fog-choked bog. Truth be told, the footage of Swampy emerging from the murk was enough to get my blood pumping for the Protector of the Green to exact some vegetative justice on his would-be foes, but now, we've got a brand-new promotional image that has Swamp Thing looking better than ever before.

You can feast your eyes ont he new promotional image below:

Whoa! Okay, so not only does this version of Swamp Thing look legit AF, but do you see the insane level of detail happening here? Honestly, as a long-time fan of the character, I think he looks as good as any of us could have hoped for.

Directing the upcoming series for DC Universe is Len Wiseman from a script penned by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman. Leading the series is Andy Bean as biologist Alec Holland, aka Swamp Thing, with Crystal Reed co-starring as CDC Doctor Abby Arcane, Swampy's love interest and a woman gifted with the psychic powers of empathy, telepathy and telekinesis.

Here's the official breakdown for the upcoming series:

Abby Arcane investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Also set to appear in DC's horror-centric series are: Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Henderson Wade, Ian Ziering, and Kevin Durand, with Derek Mears as Swamp Thing himself. James Wan's company Atomic Monster is producing Swamp Thing in association with Warner Bros. Television. Wan, Wiseman, Verheiden, and Dauberman also serve as executive producers on the series with Michael Clear. Rob Hackett is co-producer.

DC Universe's SWAMP THING will surface on the subscription-based streamer beginning on May 31st.
