Following the release of Disney's MARY POPPINS RETURNS starring Emily Blunt as the enigmatic nanny with a bag of tricks, the House of Mouse has plans to return to the big top with a live-action adaptation of the animated classic DUMBO. Directed by Tim Burton (BEETLEJUICE, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS) from a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger (THE RING, ARLINGTON ROAD), the newest adaptation of Helen Aberson and Harold Pearl's classic novel tells the story of a young elephant, whose over-sized ears enable him to fly and aid him in saving a struggling circus. Only when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer.
Today, Disney has unveiled a new poster for the high-flying adventure in anticipation of a new trailer set to premiere during ABC's presentation of the CMA's (Country Music Awards) on Wednesday night. You can take a look at the bold and beautiful poster below, which features the aerodynamic pachyderm soaring through the air while a crowd filled with human co-stars look on in astonishment.
Starring in the film is Colin Farrell, who plays former carnival highlight Holt Farrier. Joining Farrell for the popcorn and peanuts fantasy adventure are his character's children, Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins). In the film, the trio are hired by circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) to care for the newborn elephant. Suffice it to say that everything goes quite well, until the day when entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) discovers Dumbo's unique ability to fly and wants to make him the main attraction of his twisted show. Also along for the fanciful ride is PENNY DREADFUL and MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN alumna Eva Green, who arrives in the story as the breath-taking gymnast Colette Merchant. With such an inspired cast, it's hard not to become excited for this one, don't you think?
Be sure to check back with us later this evening when the new trailer for Disney and Tim Burton's DUMBO takes flight.
Meanwhile, DUMBO is set to dazzle audiences in theaters on March 29, 2019.
