I'd almost washed the stench of 1999's live-action INSPECTOR GADGET film starring Matthew Broderick from my soul, but here comes Disney with another stab at bringing the clumsy, cyborg inspector to life.
Per THR, Disney has tapped Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell of Saturday Night Live to pen the script for a new live-action take on Inspector Gadget which will be based upon the 1980s animated series. Although somewhat dimwitted, Inspector Gadget is extremely powerful thanks to countless numbers of high-tech gadgets in his body, including 'copter blades, a secret phone, leg springs, roller skates, and more. Together with his niece Penny and dog Brain, who are the ones who really solve the majority of the crimes, Gadget faces off against the evil forces of M.A.D., which is led by the nefarious Dr. Claw. The animated series spawned a number of spin-offs, video-games, and two live-action movies. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who recently produced Disney's live-action ALADDIN, will be producing the new INSPECTOR GADGET film.
Are you ready to Go Go Gadget on the big-screen once more?
