A new BTS pic from the set of Jumanji shows Johnson and Gillan reunited

D'awwwww! Under the cloak of night (last night in fact), Dwayne Johnson posted a tender behind-the-scenes photo from the set of the upcoming sequel to JUMAJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE. In the pic, the box office behemoth is all smiles while sitting next to his "partner in crime" and Jumanji co-star, Karen Gillan. If the way the camera candidly captures their friendly chemistry isn't enough to warm your heart on this harsh Monday morning, perhaps The Rock's sentiments about the "Killer of Men" will.

"Shooting our new #JUMANJI with my partner in crime @karengillanofficial and if we look like two extremely awkward teenagers in love while trying to manage our insane superpowers in our JUMANJI universe ~ that’s because we are. Absolutely love working and getting absurdly awkward with this gal. #RubyRoundhouse aka #KillerOfMen  #DrSmolderBravestone #TeenLove ð??¤â¤ï¸ #JUMANJI "

Helming the untitled sequel to his 2017 box-office smash once again is JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE director Jake Kasdan. Shooting from a script penned by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, the follow-up film will see the original's core cast of Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart returning, in addition to the movie's teen cast of Alex Wolff (HEREDITARY), Ser’Darius Blain (STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS), Madison Iseman (GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN) and Morgan Turner (REMEMBER ME). Joining the aforementioned stars for another rumble in the jungle are Awkwafina (OCEAN'S 8), Danny DeVito (DUMBO, TWINS), Danny Glover (LETHAL WEAPON franchise, PREDATOR 2) and Nick Jonas, who is set to reprise his role as Alex.

The plot to the highly anticipated sequel is being kept under wraps at this time, though now that filming is in full swing, perhaps we can expect some details to crop up in the weeks to come? As one of the biggest surprises of 2017, JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE exceeded box office expectations and then some with a worldwide take of $962.1 million. With numbers like that, there's no telling how much the sequel will rake in, especially when so many who contributed to the original's success are back for another round of Jumanji's dangerous game.
