Emma Corrin of The Crown and My Policeman stars in an upcoming mystery limited series that’s being produced by FX – and The Hollywood Reporter has been able to confirm that the seven-episode show will be released through the Hulu streaming service sometime in August. They have also learned that, while the show was previously going by the title Retreat, it is now known as A Murder at the End of the World.
Corrin is joined in the cast of A Murder at the End of the World by Clive Owen (Children of Men), Harris Dickinson (Where the Crawdads Sing), Brit Marling (Sound of My Voice), Alice Braga (Queen of the South), Joan Chen (The Last Emperor), Raúl Esparza (Hannibal), Jermaine Fowler (Coming 2 America), Ryan J. Haddad (The Politician), Pegah Ferydoni (The Last Berliner), Javed Khan (Lapwing), Louis Cancelmi (Please Be Normal), Edoardo Ballerini (Malevolent), Britian Seibert (The Knick), Christopher Gurr (The Good Fight), Kellan Tetlow (This Is Us), Daniel Olson (The Blacklist), and Neal Huff (Spotlight).
Created and directed by Marling with Zal Batmanglij, the duo that previously brought us The OA, this limited series will see Corrin taking on the role of a Gen Z amateur sleuth and hacker named Darby Hart. Darby is one of several guests invited to a retreat by a reclusive billionaire (Owen). When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby uses all of her skills to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.
A Murder at the End of the World was primarily filmed in Iceland, but there was also some additional shooting in Utah and New Jersey. Marling and Batmanglij executive produced the series with Andrea Sperling, Melanie Marnich, and Nicki Paluga.
This series sounds interesting and has a solid cast, so I look forward to seeing and hearing more about it as its August premiere date gets closer.
