Throughout the years, HBO's GAME OF THRONES has teased the events of each of its exciting seasons with stylish posters to get fans pumped about the events to come. Today, HBO has unveiled a new one-sheet for the series' eighth and final season, featuring a "dragonized" version of the Iron Throne. As you can see from the image below, much of the beast's scale-covered exterior has been replaced by swords, making the creature more deadly than ever before – if that's even possible.
When HBO's GAME OF THRONES returns, each of the show's six episodes will boast a "feature-length" runtime. While no amount of time will ever be enough for most fans, it sure feels like one hell of a way to end one of the most influential series in pop culture history, don't you think?
This also feels like as good a time as any to remind fans that a GAME OF THRONES prequel pilot from Jane Goldman and Game of Thrones scribe George R.R. Martin is also on the way. Poised to take place thousands of years before the battle for the Iron Throne, the yet-to-be-titled project stars Naomi Watts, Miranda Richardson, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackle, and Denise Gough, among others. While little is known about the prequel series thus far, we do know that terrifying secrets of Westeros’ history as well as the true origin of the white walkers will be revealed. Furthermore, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend will also come into play… it’s not the story we think we know.
GAME OF THRONES will return to HBO for one final season beginning on April 14th.
