A Fistful of Dollars to get the TV treatment from Mark Gordon Pictures

The Man with No Name served as my introduction to Westerns all those years ago, and to this day, Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy remains some of my favourite films of the genre. Consisting of A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, and THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, the trilogy featured the exploits of Clint Eastwood's iconic character.

While the films have served as an inspiration for countless movies and TV shows since their release, Deadline has reported that A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS will be getting the TV treatment as Mark Gordon Pictures are currently developing a TV series based on the film. As A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS was also an adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's YOJIMBO (which resulted in a lawsuit at the time), the company has also acquired the rights to that film as well. Deadline has heard that Bryan Cogman, who penned many episodes of HBO's Game of Thrones and is involved with Amazon's Lord of the Rings series, is in talks to adapt A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS for the small-screen. Although I was excited for a television take on the period spaghetti western, word is that the source material will be used for an original, contemporary retelling of the story. Shucks.
