Lionsgate will be releasing writer/director Rian Johnson's murder mystery KNIVES OUT this November, and the studio used their panel at CinemaCon as the venue to debut footage from the murder mystery.

Set to the Paul McCartney & Wings James Bond movie theme song "Live and Let Die", the trailer screened at CinemaCon featured current Bond Daniel Craig putting on a southern accent to play a detective who, alongside a fellow detective played by Lakeith Stanfield, is called to a mansion to investigate the murder of a family patriarch (Christopher Plummer) during his 85th birthday party.

Co-starring with Craig, Stanfield, and Plummer are Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis (pictured above in last year's HALLOWEEN), Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Ana de Armas, Jaeden Martell, Riki Lindhome, Edi Patterson, Raúl Castillo, Katherine Langford, and Noah Segan. Some of them are playing members of Plummer's family, who

are asked to stick around until the investigation has concluded, and it becomes apparent that (the detectives) believe someone at the party may have committed murder, much to the outrage and irritation of the family.

…There's plenty of bickering amongst the family, including a moment where Evans' character points at each of his yelling family members and responds, "Eat shit. Eat Shit," to each one — just to give a taste of the instra-family drama.

Evans plays the son of Jamie Lee Curtis and Don Johnson's characters.

Rian Johnson, Curtis, and Ana de Armas were on stage at CinemaCon to introduce the KNIVES OUT footage. During their time in front of the crowd, Curtis referred to de Armas' character as "the moral compass of this cast of lunatics."

Johnson explained that he was inspired to make the film due to the fact that he has

…been a die-hard Agatha Christie fan since I was a teenager. KNIVES OUT was my attempt to take everything I love about an Agatha Christie who-done-it, jam it into an all-star cast, give it a Hitchcock thriller, genre twist and set it in modern-day America."

Lionsgate will be giving KNIVES OUT a theatrical release on November 27th, the day before Thanksgiving. Curtis feels that's perfect timing, since the movie is about a

family gathering that turns bloody very quickly. These people put the 'diss' in dysfunctional, which should play very well this Thanksgiving weekend."

KNIVES OUT sounds like a good time to me and I'm a fan of pretty much everyone in the cast, so I look forward to checking it out this fall.
