A few weeks back we passed along word that Jim Carrey would be up to return for THE MASK 2. And today we have a fun trailer recut that imagines A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS and THE BLOB director Chuck Russell's 1994 comedy as a horror movie.

Now I don't know about you, but I'm more than down for seeing Carrey return in THE MASK 2. The original comic was very horror-based so hopefully, a sequel would go more in that direction. Fingers crossed! The original film centered on:
A timid bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey) who discovers a magical mask containing the spirit of the Norse god Loki. While wearing the mask, Ipkiss becomes a supernatural playboy exuding charm and confidence which allows him to catch the eye of local nightclub singer Tina Carlyle (Cameron Diaz). Unfortunately, under the mask's influence, Ipkiss also robs a bank, which angers junior crime lord Dorian Tyrell (Peter Greene), whose goons get blamed for the heist.

Chuck Russell directed THE MASK from a screenplay by Mike Werb from a story by Michael Fallon and Mark Verheiden based on the character created by John Arcudi, Chris Warner, and Doug Mahnke. Bob Engelman produced and it starred Jim Carrey, Peter Greene, Amy Yasbeck, Richard Jeni, and Cameron Diaz. New Line Cinema released it on July 29, 1994. If you don't already own it, you can buy the original on Blu-ray HERE.
