Sonic the Hedgehog writers now scripting thriller Violent Night

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller aren't the first ones to come up with the idea of twisting the title of the classic Christmas tune "Silent Night" into VIOLENT NIGHT, Afroman has a Christmas song called "Violent Night", but the idea had never occurred to me and I haven't heard the Afroman song, so it still struck me as clever when I saw that Casey and Miller are writing a thriller titled VIOLENT NIGHT.

Universal has acquired Casey and Miller's pitch. The details are being kept under wraps for now, but it is known that VIOLENT NIGHT will be

an elevated thriller set against the Christmas holiday backdrop.

It's always a relief to know that something is going to be elevated, whatever that means.

David Leitch, co-director of the first JOHN WICK and director of ATOMIC BLONDE, DEADPOOL 2, and FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW, will be producing the film alongside Kelly McCormick and Annie Marter. Matt Reilly is shepherding the project for Universal.

Hopefully VIOLENT NIGHT will be as fun as its title implies.
