I have to admit up front that, although I am curious to check the show out, I have not yet watched any episodes of the DC Universe streaming service's prematurely cancelled Swamp Thing series. So I have to rely on the word of others that Kevin Durand's character Jason Woodrue only appeared in the mutated form of Floronic Man in a post-credits scene of the final episode.
If Swamp Thing had gotten a second season, it's likely that Floronic Man would have been causing the title character a lot of trouble over the course of its episodes… but apparently that's not going to happen.
But if you were a fan of Swamp Thing and wanted to get a better look at Floronic Man, concept artist/creature designer Jerad S. Marantz is here to help. On his Instagram page, he shared a behind-the-scenes video that shows Durand walking to set in the full Floronic Man costume, in broad daylight. He looks really cool, and it bums me out to know that we're never going to see this creature clash with Derek Mears' Swamp Thing.
Based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Swamp Thing was produced by Atomic Monster and Warner Bros. Television. The show follows
Dr. Abby Arcane as she investigates a deadly swamp-born virus in the small town of Marais, Louisiana. When a mysterious creature emerges from the murky marsh, she finds herself facing the nightmares of a supernatural world where no one is safe. With nature wildly out of balance and coming for the people of Marais, in the end, it may take some Thing from the swamp to save it.
Mears and Durand were joined in the cast by Crystal Reed, Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Michael Beach, Henderson Wade, Ian Ziering, Andy Bean, and Adrienne Barbeau.
The first and only season of the show can be purchased on Blu-ray through Amazon.
