Candyman, Killer Hook Men & More! We Dig Deep into the Urban Legend

One of my favorite urban legends is the story of the Hook Man, mainly because it goes hand-in-hook with my appreciation for slasher movies and has even inspired some of them. The Hook Man legend is also the focus on the new video in the SCARY STUDIES series, which is one of the shows we have on our JoBlo Horror Videos channel (check it out and subscribe!)

Written and narrated by Cody Meirick, director of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark documentary SCARY STORIES, SCARY STUDIES aims to "delve into the stories, the films, and the meanings behind the scary stories we tell ourselves."

This new episode is titled Hook Man 101 and has the following synopsis: 

The Hook Man urban legend is a pervasive story that goes well beyond any one specific telling. The tale has origins in the 1950s and is synonymous with other Lover's Lane legends. Along with being one of the most popular tales of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark book series, it has an interesting history in horror films. We look at a number of uses of this urban legend, including 1992's the Candyman killer, the Hook Man legend broadly, as well as a classic: 1986's Night of the Creeps.
