Seth Rogen to adapt monster hunting podcast Bubble into animated film

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Radio programs used to be all the rage in the early twentieth century, especially when you couldn't go out to the movies everyday, and TV (or the internet) wasn't invented yet. There'd be, of course, music and news, but also scripted radio programs that ranged from drama, horror, comedy, and everything in-between. Unfortunately, the march of history moves on, and people rarely listen to the radio anymore, since all that seems to be left on the radio is music, news, and morning zoo crews. However, now – even though we have countless other ways to entertain ourselves – many people (including myself) currently get engrossed in a good podcast, the successor to radio in many ways – especially when it comes to scripted programming (as programs like Spotify take care of most people's music needs).

And some podcasts get so popular, they even get their own live-action shows, like LORE, HOMECOMING, and the upcoming WELCOME TO NIGHTVALE. Now, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are planning on producing an animated feature film out of the Maximum Fun podcast BUBBLE, about "an unlikely group of friends who came together thanks to an Uber-like app for hunting monsters called Huntr." Jordan Morris, who created the podcast, is writing the script.

This wouldn't be the first animated film Rogen developed, as he and his friends (including Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Danny McBride) worked on the blockbuster, R-Rated CG-film SAUSAGE PARTY. No word yet on if Rogen will voice any of the roles, or if the original cast will reprise them for the film. Also no release or start date announced as of yet, but since it's easier to do animation remotely, both might be announced relatively soon.

But what do you guys think? Fans of the original podcast? If so, what do you think about Rogen and Goldberg's involvement? Either way, sound off below!
