Just last month, Universal had to remove the next thriller from M. Night Shyamalan from their release schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally set to reach theatres on February 26, 2021, the untitled thriller is currently without a release date… but that doesn't mean it isn't still moving forward toward production. In the midst of the pandemic, Shyamalan is assembling the cast for the film.
Variety reports that Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects, Greta Gerwig's LITTLE WOMEN), Thomasin McKenzie (JOJO RABBIT, Edgar Wright's upcoming film LAST NIGHT IN SOHO), Aaron Pierre (Prime Suspect 1973, Krypton), Alex Wolff (MY FRIEND DAHMER, HEREDITARY), and Vickey Krieps (PHANTOM THREAD, THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB) are all in negotiations to star in the film.
Shyamalan is writing, directing, and producing the thriller, and the only thing that has been revealed about it is that it's going to be "weird and dark".
Everyone is hoping that this project will be able to start filming by the end of the year.
Shyamalan's career has had as many ups and downs as a rollercoaster, but I'm always interested in checking out the TV shows and movies he makes.
