Wrestling-themed horror film Wrestle Massacre releases trailer and poster

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I never grew up with wrestling (I was that asshole kid that felt smug that he knew it was fake…I know, I know…). However, I've definitely grown to appreciate wrestling as an artform as I've gotten older, because wrestlers are indeed top-class entertainers – putting their health and bodies on the line for a crowd – and that certainly deserves respect no matter how "real" the sport may be.

It's also extremely tough for anyone to maintain – or even start – a career in the business, which is precisely the premise for the upcoming horror film WRESTLE MASSACRE, about a wannabe wrestler (Richie Acevedo aka "The Cuban Assassin") going crazy after they realize they make their dream become a reality. Here's the official synopsis:

Randy is an awkward groundskeeper who is obsessed with professional wrestling. Longing for a sense of belonging with grandiose dreams of becoming a wrestling superstar, he is only met with abject humiliation. A brutal shaming at a local wrestling school pushes Randy over the edge and sets out on a blood soaked rampage to punish those who wronged him.

Meanwhile WRESTLE MASSACRE – also starring The WWE’s Tony Atlas, and Canadian pro wrestler Rene Dupree – will be out on DVD and On Demand June 16th.

So what do you guys think? Any wrestling fans out there? If so, how do you think the film looks so far? Either way, sound off below!
