Merging war movies with the horror genre seems like a no-brainer, considering a lot of true life war stories would rival most horror films anyway. It's even worked great in the past, such as Michael Mann's THE KEEP, and the recent OVERLORD.
That's the calculus the upcoming WWII-set paranormal horror-thriller GHOSTS OF WAR is betting on, and you can see for yourself if the math checks out in the trailer above. Here's the official synopsis:
Five battle-hardened American soldiers are assigned to hold a French Chateau near the end of World War II. Formerly occupied by the Nazi high command, this unexpected respite quickly descends into madness when they encounter a supernatural enemy far more terrifying than anything seen on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, GHOSTS OF WAR – directed by Eric Bress (THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT) and starring Brenton Thwaites, Alan Ritchson, Skylar Astin, Theo Rossi, Kyle Gallner, Billy Zane, and Shaun Toub – will be coming to virtual screenings, On Demand, and digital July 17th, and on DirectTV June 18th.
