Sorority House Massacre TV series coming from Norman Reedus & Stephen Trask

Even with so many classic genre films getting the television treatment these days, I never would have guessed that we'd be getting a TV series inspired by the 1986 slasher SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE (watch it HERE). But a SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE TV show is exactly what The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus and Hedwig and the Angry Inch creator Stephen Trask think the world needs.

Written and directed by Carol Frank and produced by the legendary Roger Corman, SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE was about

sorority sisters who are stalked by a psychopathic killer who shares a telepathic link with one of the girls.

Trask is developing the concept for television and the show will be a collaboration between Shout! Studios, Reedus's company bigbaldhead, and Robert Schwartzman's Utopia Originals. Reedus and Schwartzman will be producing the series with Danielle DiGiacomo, Brent Haynes, Bob Emmer, Garson Foos, Amanda Verdon, and JoAnne Colonna.

Reedus had this to say about the endeavor:

I could not be more excited to collaborate with Robert and his incredible team at Utopia on this project. Their taste and creative vision are inspiring, and exactly in line with the kind of content that bigbaldhead set out to develop. We are thrilled to revisit this cult classic and create something truly unique."

Schwartzman added:

When we started Utopia, it was with the intention of not only supporting filmmakers on the distribution side but, also, to expand into working with creatives to build unique, original content from the onset. With Utopia Originals, we’re excited to hit the ground running with the Sorority House Massacre series and collaborate with the incredible teams behind it."

I'm not fond of SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE, I've always preferred Jim Wynorski's sequel-in-name-only SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE II, but I'm very curious to see how Trask is going to make an interesting TV show out of a movie that was clearly just a HALLOWEEN cash-in.
