Paranormal Activity reboot director found in Underwater’s Will Eubank

More than a year and a half has passed since we first heard that Paramount and Blumhouse were planning to revive the Paranormal Activity franchise, which has been dormant since the release of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (watch it HERE) in 2015. We've known for a while that Happy Death Day and Freaky director Christopher Landon, who wrote four of the previous Paranormal Activity movies, has been working on the script, and now it has finally been revealed who's going to be directing this thing. Taking the helm of the new Paranormal Activity is Will Eubank, who recently directed Underwater (watch that HERE).

Details on the new film's plot are being kept under wraps, but this is being described as an "unexpected retooling" of the franchise. Landon seems to agree with that description, telling fans to "expect the unexpected". He also said that "no one could possibly guess what new, crazy nightmares" are being cooked up for the film.

Landon will serve as executive producer alongside Steven Schneider. Franchise creator Oren Peli and Blumhouse's Jason Blum are producing.

The Paranormal Activity franchise has

focused, in most outings, on a family terrorized by a demon. The movies capitalized on the growing use of video and cell phone cameras to tell spooky and jump-scare-filled tales to great effect. Made on micro-budgets, the movies were massive money-makers, with the first one considered to be among the most profitable movies ever made.

The new movie will, like its predecessors, be presented in the "found footage" style. It's scheduled to reach theatres on March 4, 2022.
