The new Law & Order spinoff, Law & Order: Organized Crime, is adding to its squad. It has been announced that Dylan McDermott will star opposite Christopher Meloni on the series. Meloni will be reprising his Law & Order: SVU character Elliot Stabler, whom he played for the first 12 seasons of SVU, on the new spinoff.
Details of McDermott's character are being kept under wraps but it's a pretty big get for NBC & the spinoff because McDermott is no stranger to network procedurals. McDermott starred in the legal drama The Practice for seven seasons & he took home a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his work while also being nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The actor is coming off Ryan Murphy's Hollywood at Netflix, where he earned an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a limited series. His recent credits also include Murphy's American Horror Story and The Politician, Fox comedy LA to Vegas, and feature film King Richard, opposite Will Smith.
Law & Order: Organized Crime sees Stabler returning to the NYPD after a devastating personal loss where he joins a new, elite task force designed to take down New York's most powerful criminal syndicates. The series was announced in March 2020 with a straight to series order and was initially slated to join this season's fall lineup but it was postponed when the show switched showrunners. As of now, the series doesn't have a new premiere date.
