A new trailer for Coming 2 America has been released and while Eddie Murphy is looking pretty hilarious in his return to Queens as King Akeem, Wesley Snipes also gets to shine in this fresh look at the highly anticipated sequel.
The new trailer features more of the ensemble getting in on the comedic actions this time around and I have to say, this could be a comedic sequel that might actually have been worth the wait. The new look at the film brings us first to Queens and then Zamunda, where Murphy's King Akeem faces a potential military coup led by a general played by Wesley Snipes. In order to stop the hostile takeover, Akeem returns to Queens with Semmi (Arsenio Hall) to the king's long-lost male heir
Directed by Craig Brewer and penned by Kenya Barris, Barry W. Blaustein, and David Sheffield, with story by Blaustein, David Sheffield, and Justin Kanew, the film also stars Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, Louie Anderson, John Amos, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.
Coming 2 America will hit Amazon Prime Video on March 5, 2021. The film was originally going to hit screens on December 18, 2020, via Paramount Pictures but the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many studios to seek out other options to release their films and, in the case of Paramount Pictures, that means selling them off to other entities. When it was all said and done, Paramount released the film to Amazon for $125 million in a global rights deal.
I'm still heading into this film very cautious but the two trailers that have been released have been solid overall and I'm really hoping that Eddie Murphy and company can deliver the goods. Did YOU like the new trailer?
