Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One has set its voice cast and fans of Supernatural are bound to be happy with who is leading the way as Batman.
Jensen Ackles will be providing the voice of the Caped Crusader in Warner Bros. Animation's adaptation of the popular and beloved comic. Jensen is no stranger to DC Comics and Gotham as he also voiced Red Hood in 2010's Batman: Under the Red Hood. Ackles will be joined by Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent, Billy Burke as James Gordon, Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone, Troy Baker as the Joker, Alastair Duncan as Alfred, Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy, David Dastmalchian as Calendar Man, Amy Landecker as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson as Gilda Dent, and Jack Quaid as Alberto. The late Naya Rivera, who reportedly finished her voice work before her untimely death last year, plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Additional voice work is provided by Frances Callier, Greg Chun, Gary Leroi Gray, and Jim Pirri.
Batman: The Long Halloween is based on the acclaimed 1996 comic series by Jeff Loeb and Tim Sale. The concept was a 13-issue limited series that took place during Batman's early days of crime-fighting. The comic tells the story of a mysterious killer named Holiday, who murders people on holidays, one each month. Working with District Attorney Harvey Dent and Captain James Gordon, Batman races against the calendar as he tries to discover who Hoilday is before he claims his next victim each month while attempting to stop the crime war between two of Gotham City's most powerful families, Maroni and Falcone.
The comic has many fans in Hollywood and it reportedly served as part of the inspiration for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and is rumored to have similarly influenced Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman. The animated feature is directed by Chris Palmer and screenwriting duties were taken on by Tim Sheridan.
Are YOU excited about the voice cast? The Long Halloween will be released in two parts, with the first expected to debut sometime later this year.
