The new DC Universe won’t just roll out on the big screen as a number of television projects are also in development. One of those projects is Creature Commandos, an animated series which features a black ops team consisting of monstrous prisoners formed by Amanda Waller. While speaking with Collider (before the SAG-AFTRA strike), David Harbour teased the Creature Commandos is “wildly funny.

I didn’t know what it was when it was sent to me; I met with James, and he sort of laid out a lot of stuff,” David Harbour says. “It’s really exciting. He considers it some of the best stuff he’s ever written. It’s hilarious, and the character is great. I think it’s been announced that it’s Frankenstein, and it’s a very colorful, terrific character. So, yeah, we’ve started to shoot stuff. I’m not one to really break, but during this, it is wildly funny stuff. So, yeah, we’re shooting. It’s hilarious and I can’t wait for people to see it.

As David Harbour mentioned, he plays Eric Frankenstein in Creatures Commandos, alongside Franko Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, and Steve Agee as John Economos, and Sean Gunn as Weasel.

What’s exciting about the new DC Universe is that actors will portray their characters across all mediums, be it movies, TV, or video games. So if Superman shows up in Creature Commandos, he’ll be voiced by David Corenswet, or if Eric Frankenstein pops up in Swamp Thing, he’ll be played by David Harbour.

The first chapter of the DCU is titled Gods and Monsters. On the slate, co-head of DC Studios Peter Safran noted, “As we craft the plan for DC Studios, we are thrilled to share with fans the first 10 stories they can expect from the unified DC Universe featuring some of our most well-known characters as well as the next generation of marquee characters.” He added: “Chapter 1 tells cohesive stories that highlight love, compassion, and the innate goodness of the human spirit, all designed to minimize audience confusion and maximize audience engagement across platforms.Creature Commandos is expected to be released on Max next year.
