First Look at Brad Pitt’s Formula One movie revealed

Brad Pitt is teaming up with Joseph Kosinski, the visionary director with a keen sense for eye-popping set pieces, as displayed in his films Tron: Legacy and Top Gun: Maverick. The two are currently collaborating for an Apple Original Formula One film that is set to be streaming on AppleTV+. Brad Pitt has recently been seen buddying around with race fans at Grand Prix race weekends as the production piggybacks off of the active events in order to film their scenes. The film is untitled as of late.

The official Twitter account for Formula One has just recently given us a sneak peek at the untitled project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the untitled film, which also features Snowfall star Damson Idris in a lead role, is set in the world of elite motor racing. Pitt stars as a former F1 driver who returns to race for the fictional APXGP team, a middling outfit, alongside Idris’ character.” The first look image from the movie is that of a APXGP in action with the caption, “FIRST LOOK: Introducing APXGP, starring in an Apple Original Film #F1.”

In addition to Apple, the racing film is being made in collaboration with Formula One and is shot at Grand Prix weekend races. The movie is aiming to capitalize on the sport’s popularity after the success of the Netflix dramat docuseries, Drive to Survive.

If the amazing aerial scenes in Top Gun: Maverick is any indication, the racing sequences are sure to invoke the same amount of awe and thrills. Especially since the director, Kosinski, is working with the same creative team behind Top Gun: Maverick. He is also reuniting with screenwriter Ehren Krueger and producer Jerry Bruckheimer for the film. The supporting cast that will be appearing alongside Pitt, in addition to Idris, will be Tobias Menzies, known for The Crown and Outlander, and Kerry Condon, the Academy Award-nominated actress of The Banshees of Inisherin.

Both Bruckheimer and Pitt will be producing the film, Pitt under his company, Plan B Entertainment, as well as seven-time F1 champion Sir Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films banner. According to THR, the movie would have an exclusive — and global — run of at least 30 days (one source says it could even go as high as 60 days) before heading to the Apple TV+ platform.
