Cannibal stories are a tough nut to crack as they automatically turn off a large part of the audience just from their central concept. Yet, as proven by shows such as Santa Clarita Diet, there is still an audience for them. Adapted from the hit podcast, The Horror of Dolores Roach also takes a ton of inspiration from Sweeney Todd. If you know anything about that story, then it’s fairly easy to see where Dolores Roach goes during its runtime. And there are many satisfying twists and turns along the way to keep you interested. But it’s the performances that really make the show stand out. So I was excited to be able to chat with stars Justina Machado, Alejandro Hernadez, Kita Updike, and K. Todd Freeman about just how much they bring to the table. Because it’s a lot. So join me as we get into what you can expect from the show and how much fun they had filming it!

The Horror of Dolores Roach plot synopsis: Dolores Roach (Justina Machado) is released from prison after 16 years and returns to a gentrified Washington Heights. She reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis (Alejandro Hernandez), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands” Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.
