Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito want to live forever

Like true twins, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito share a number of traits and thoughts…as it turns out, they’re almost identical when it comes to life, death and what happens after it all.

In a new sitdown for Interview Magazine, Arnold and DeVito waxed philosophical on the joys of life and the terror of what happens to us after death. DeVito guessed, “You don’t know [what happens]…We deteriorate.” Arnold agreed, suggesting those that believe otherwise don’t have a grip no reality. “Except in some fantasy. When people talk about, ‘I will see them again in heaven,’ it sounds so good, but the reality is that we won’t see each other again after we’re gone. That’s the sad part. I know people feel comfortable with death, but I don’t…Because I will fucking miss the shit out of everything. To sit with you here, that will one day be gone?…And to have fun and to go to the gym and to pump up, to ride my bike on the beach, to travel around, to see interesting things all over the world. What the fuck?”

Arnold also told DeVito he has a sort of resentment against even the idea of death. “I tell you, there’s someone that mixed up this whole thing. Think about it. Who can we blame?…That we have to die…I don’t know what the deal is, but in any case, it’s a reality, and it truly pisses me off.” To which DeVito replied, “You don’t want to die,” prompting Arnold to declare, “No. What the fuck? What kind of deal is that?…As you get older more and more people around you wipe out…That’s why you have to treasure every single moment.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito first collaborated on 1988’s Twins and again on 1994’s “awfully good” Junior. Although Twins was a commercial success and remains an oddball of late-’80s comedy, the oft-circulated idea of a sequel has apparently been permanently squashed by director Ivan Reitman’s son Jason, who Schwarzenegger says hated the idea. Still, the two do plan to work together again. And this is where we pitch a Turbo-Man movie, with Arnold as the superhero and DeVito as his sidekick Booster.
