Universal Pictures keeps it all in the family for its new Fast X poster. The latest poster (featured below) for the highly-anticipated Fast & Furious sequel finds Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) front and center, with Fast family members and villains surrounding him. Toward the bottom of the poster, we see the City of Rio de Janeiro, the statue of Christ the Redeemer, and a street race primed and ready to rip through crowded streets.
Louis Leterrier directs Fast X from a screenplay by Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau. Returning castmembers include Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Scott Eastwood as Little Nobody, Tyrese Gibson as Roman, Sung Kang as Han, Ludacris as Tej, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Charlize Theron as Cipher, and Helen Mirren as Queenie.
Newcomers to the franchise include Jason Momoa as the “evil and androgynous” villain Dante, Alan Ritchson (Reacher), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Rita Moreno (West Side Story), Michael Rooker (Slither), and Daniela Melchoir (The Suicide Squad).
The Fast and Furious franchise is a fascinating cinematic journey. The first three films in the franchise feel like they’re from a bygone era. During the fourth film, The Fast and the Furious, the franchise’s tone shifts into something else entirely. Then, when Fast Five touches down, all bets are off, and the Fast franchise becomes a pedal-to-the-metal money maker. The franchise gets crazier and far-fetched with every installment, leading up to F9: The Fast Saga, taking Toretto and his team to space!
Fast X introduces Jason Momoa as Dante, a villain out for revenge against Toretto and his family after the team destroys his chance to live a life of luxury. Dante hits the Fast family with everything he’s got, including explosives, concussive blasts, and kidnapping. Dante doesn’t know that you never get between Toretto and his family members, but he’s about to learn.
While speaking with Total Film, Fast X director Louis Leterrier teased that Dante is “pure chaos.” The unpredictable villain also happens to be obsessed with Dom and has spent years studying his every move. “Dante is in awe of Dom,” Letterrier said. “He’s analyzed him. There’s nowhere to hide, because he knows Dom better than he knows himself. Dom truly meets his match with Dante.”
What do you think about the new Fast X poster? Fast X races into theaters on May 19, 2023. Are you ready to ride alongside Dominic Toretto and the rest to the near-finish line for this enduring franchise?
