65: Interviews with Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt and more!

A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods hope to make a big splash this weekend with their big-budget sci-fi epic 65. In it, Adam Driver plays an astronaut who crash lands on Earth 65 million years ago and has to battle dinosaurs and the terrain in order to survive. Complicating matters is the fact that, of the humans he was transporting, there’s only one survivor, a young girl (played by Ariana Greenblatt) whom he has to protect.

We were lucky enough to have a chance to participate in the 65 junket and chat with Driver, Greenblatt, and the director team of Beck and Woods. It’s funny, for some reason, I always expected Driver to be intense, but in our quick interview, I found him to be super down-to-earth, friendly and pretty easygoing, with him telling me that the premise of 65 was an easy sell to him. He said he was in as soon as he heard the words “space” and “dinosaurs”. He also opened up about how the isolation he felt during the pandemic played a part in wanting to do the role, which he suggests is something we’ll hear from a lot of actors, with the movies shot post-lockdown just now getting released.

For her part, Ariana Greenblatt seemed thrilled by the chance to do a big action movie opposite Driver, with her saying that one of her favorite aspects of the movie was getting to do stunts and action. Meanwhile, Beck and Woods mention that there’s more to the story of 65 than meets the eye, with them displaying a nice flair for world-building throughout the taut ninety-minute running time.
