Would you do it if you could drink something that would make you live forever? Dexter Fletcher will often ask himself this question as he prepares to direct Fountain of Youth for Skydance. The upcoming feature, written by James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery 2Scream VI), revolves around the mythical place where it grants you eternal life if you drink from it. The Fountain of Youth is the subject of countless stories, with explorers often willing to kill one another for the chance to live forever.

The announcement for Fountain of Youth comes shortly after the trailer debut for Fletcher’s Ghosted, starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. In Ghosted, Cole (Chris Evans) falls head over heels for Sadie (Ana de Armas) but then discovers she’s a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world. Adrien Brody, Amy Sedaris, Tim Blake Nelson, Tate Donovan, and Marwan Kenzari also star, premiering on Apple TV+ on April 21, 2023.

Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce Fountain of Youth alongside Tripp Vinson, Project X Entertainment‘s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein. Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella) and Dalia Ibelhauptaitė will serve as executive producers. Matt Grimm will oversee the project for Skydance.

Dexter Fletcher is fearless in tackling new genres when stepping behind the camera. After taking over directing duties from Bryan Singer on the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, Fletcher shot the Academy Award-winning Elton John musical Rocketman. Fletcher also directed 2015’s Eddie the Eagle, bringing the story of Eddie Edwards, the notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics, to life on the big screen. With Fountain of Youth as his next feature-length project, Fletcher is exploring uncharted territory with a myth that has fueled the imaginations of explorers and storytellers for generations.

Are you excited about Fletcher venturing to the Fountain of Youth for his next film? Would you want to live forever? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
