Pedro Pascal “can’t see sh*t” in his Mandalorian costume

Pedro Pascal is no fan of his Mandalorian outfit, saying the costume makes him feel blind any time he puts it on.

The Star Wars franchise landed a major hit with The Mandalorian when it arrived on Disney+, giving the property its first live-action television series. Since debuting in 2019, the series has earned praise for its storytelling, visual effects and costumes. But one person who is not a fan of his getup is star Pedro Pascal, who plays the Mandalorian aka Din Djarin.

“It’s like putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it,” he told Empire. “It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real – but you can’t see shit!”

While the costume designers have tried to manipulate the outfit to better serve Pedro Pascal, he feels one step away from dropping off the face of a galaxy far, far away whenever he’s on set. “They’ve continued to finesse and make it more comfortable, but it’s like going blind…Your breath completely fogs up the narrow slit that you can see through. There’s no peripheral vision. If there’s a hole, I’m gonna fall into it.”

While we respect Pedro Pascal’s work on The Mandalorian, it previously came to light that the actor shared bounty hunter duties quite frequently with his stand-in, at least according to Bruce Dallas Howard, who has directed two episodes of the series so far.

Still, Pedro Pascal is in good company with other actors who hated their costumes. In the Star Wars universe alone, Anthony Daniels has spoken about his issues with the C-3PO costume, while Daniel Craig has expressed his disdain for his Stormtrooper garb—which was just for a cameo! Superhero outfits have also proven problematic, with the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Andrew Garfield and more being open about their reservations. And of course there is the infamous Bat-nipple suit, which has been slammed numerous times by George Clooney. But hey, at least that went on the auction block for a cool $40k.

Pedro Pascal will return for season three of The Mandalorian, which arrives on Disney+ on March 1st.
