Kevin Bacon “waiting for the call” for another Tremors movie

Kevin Bacon makes it a point to not revisit too many of his movies, singling out the 1990 monster horror-comedy Tremors as the exception. Now, he is showing more interest than ever in participating in another Tremors movie.

Recently, a Twitter user posted a screenshot of the new Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer–which features a graboid-looking creature–along with the caption: “Seeing this on the SHAZAM trailer makes me REALLY want to see a new TREAMORS movie that isnt direct to dvd @kevinbacon make this happen”. It’s an offhand comment, but it was enough for Kevin Bacon to respond, confirming once again that he is ready to make another Tremors movie. You can see the tweet and his response below:

Kevin Bacon has commented on another Tremors movie before, saying, “[Tremors] was one film of mine that I wanted to revisit that character. I don’t look back at all. In fact, Tremors is the only movie of mine that I have rewatched since it’s come out…” Oh come on, Kevin, we know you get footloose every now and then!

Kevin Bacon even went as far as to take Tremors to a studio. “We were around the 25 year anniversary. I went to Blumhouse, and they were totally into the idea. Universal didn’t want to remake it as a feature and also maybe because it didn’t work as a feature the first time.” Bacon added, “I would still love to do it, believe me. Maybe it needs to be the 30th anniversary or the 35th. We’ll keep going.” Now that the 30th anniversary has passed, hopefully Bacon can make it for the 35th in 2025.

Despite being synonymous with the Tremors franchise, Kevin Bacon has only appeared in the first entry. The rest–all six of them–have gone direct-to-video, with godawful subtitles like A Cold Day in Hell and Shrieker Island. However, his character–Valentine McKee–was set to return in the first sequel, Tremors: Aftershock, before the decision was made to not release it theatrically. And then there was the failed Tremors TV series…
